Paa... or Maa...

Long time since I wrote a movie review... okay anything at all for that matter!

Everyone of us had waited anxiously with the release of the AB and AB starer Paa... where the real life father and son swap places in the reel life. I am no exception. So I did manage to see it in the first week... and here's my take on the movie.

Go watch it in the theater! It's full paisa vasool!

The critics have said their part... some of them going to the extent of saying that the media bashing in the movie was unwarranted. Well I am not surprised they said that as they are part of the so called Media themselves and would not like to been shown in lighter vein. As far I am concerned it was a perfect fit and shows just exactly how News Channels make news out of nothing and how some politicians use them as their PR tool... I am sure you don't need me to mention the connections between channels and parties here...

Coming back to the movie... the only problem I felt was in the title of the movie... it definitely does not belong to AB and AB but AB and VB!!! Maa... a mother son son mother story should have been more like it... or better still "Loveable Auro... the story of maa, bum, paa and him!"

There's enough and more you can read about the movie on the net but nothing will do justice to what the movie shows you. Balki has done a brilliant job with the way he has treated the subject and the what he has got from the actors!

VB and AB jr bring out the perfect chemistry and emotions! They make you want to cry with them, and Auro... to die for him!

What do I need to tell about AB... Hats off to this legend! He has surpassed all his achievements he has ever reached in the past decades! Never before has a man so dedicated and passionate about his work come and will be a long time before another one even matches it... too difficult to go beyond! I wouldn't be suprised if he is nominated for the best child actor award for the next how many ever award functions to come in the year ahead!

I am not a fan of AB but I cannot help but admire him for the way he keeps re-inventing himself. Any superlative used for him is still not justifying him! Dada Saheb Phalke award can be re named AB award for life time achievement and setting new benchmarks for generations to emulate!

Go watch it!

Been a while...

I know I haven't written anything here for a while. And if you have been checking this regularly.. thank you and if not good.. you saved some energy!

Off late, have been hearing about other people's blogs. AB writes it daily. AK uses it as PR medium... so does AB! NW pours her heart out on it and if you read it you would know everything about her that is there to know.

But have I read any of them... guess just like this blog which very few people read... I don't read much what others write.

Why? Guess that's because I just don't!

So why do I expect others to read mine?

Well it's the human nature... not one of us is perfect but we expect the person in front of us to be.... applies here to!

So you know I am not a perfect blogger but expect you to be a perfect reader... so keep coming back and leave your comments and who knows I might be more diligent updating this thing!

Cheers!

Quiet (sic) a break....

Since my last post and now, I have joined a new job, election dates were announced, campaigning began and 4 phases of polling were completed. Varun Gandhi got the credential for being a politician... playing guest in the official guesthouse of the UP government, Obama completed 100 days and said the dirty words... Buffalo not Bangalore!

GM filed for chapter 11 and got a new CEO, Chrysler is likely to go through the same and sell a part of itself to Fiat, Jet started another low cost airline (as if others were making oodles of money!!), Sensex kissed 12K and moved back... leaving the analyst still wondering what on earth was driving the market up?

IPL started and KKR are still the worst team despite being the most valued in terms of branding. India beat New Zealand fair and straight, SA became the #1 on ODI ranking, I missed a SOX game, and Fear Factor 2 India completed its shoot in South Africa.

Pakistan's lie of not supporting Taliban came in the open (for the Pakistanis and US... rest of the world already new it) and likely hood of it being broken up once again became that much a reality! North Korea launched a satelite... wonder what it does?

I went to US and gained 4 kgs! Took loads of pics... keyword 'I took'... and got complains that I take the nature more than myself! Selftimer and hanging the camera 5 and a half feet in the air is not easy... specially when treking!!!

The crazy bunch of Pingu, Mrs Pingu, Tangaroo and me made a mid night decision to go the Pondy for sunrise and breakfast... reached on time and had breakfast! Spent the right time on the beach... but never saw the sun come up...! but who the hell had gone for that... it was the best company I could have asked for!

Made a bunch of new friends... starting with Num and then her bunch of Banana and Bambi.... joined Chennai Food Guide.. bunch of gluttons! Saw the biggest Great Danes I have in my life! Got a new laptop... official lappy, before you ask for a treat... almost missed one of my best friend's birthday, I had an excuse of being in US!

Well caught up on lot of things but am missing on my sleep. Being jet lagged and sleep deprived for 5 days is not a good feeling! So while I go and catch up with my sleep and go the Gym in the morning (yeah I joined that also) you go and come back in a bit!

Cheers!

Hype Oscar Millionair!

Tired is not the word.

Media hype around things is getting so tiring that I have stopped watching news channels!

SDM winning 8 Oscars... well that's the latest example of Hype doing it in for the competition. The last one was Obama's... yeah... torturous 1 year 9 month campaign! So much so that some people thought he had become the president when he defeated Hillary! John McCain never had any chance!

Wondering if the hype can get Aarushi some justice? What happened to all the media following her case when the real culprits came to fore... there was no story left as it became a mundane murder case and not the sensation that it started out as... rather what they tried creating off it!

Let me see if the hype against the terror attacks can get similar results! Will the Indian intelligence services ever get united and synchronised? Let's create a hype and see if the Indian voters vote for a non corrupt leadership?

Wake me up when the hype gets these things done... till then don't ask me to switch on a news channel!

Cheers!

Been to a circus... lately?

So when was the last time you went to a circus?

Did I just remind you of your school days? Well, that was the idea.

Call it "Luck by chance" (I am still to see the movie carrying this phrase as it's title) or the child in me, the first opportunity I got recently I made it to the "Gemini Circus" in Chennai.

Let me not be judgemental at this stage but narrate the facts as is.

Being there on the Pongal day only meant that the complete city was there. And thanks only to the fact that there is no online booking we managed to get the tickets. At Rs 60, 90 and 120 they were not any better than your theaters. And why should they be... for a 2 hour filled with non-stop live action I think it's a deserving price specially if you are used to going to the multiplexes in the city!

We went in to see the trapeeze nets all set and ready to be used. The show started on the dot at 7 and the high flying act was well timed and deserved the awe. What followed was even better. The worst march past I have seen in my life. Girls of all shapes and sizes made their ritual circles around the arena with the elephants and camels and horses. What many did not notice at that time was the lone ranger on the top of the tent, pulling up all the trapeeze wires and placing them in the neat bundle so that the acts to follow did not have any loose ends troubling them... hanging and swinging from the wires and struts... and all this after the safety nets were removed.

There was nothing special about this circus, except if you wanted to show your kids what they are not missing.

The only other thing I might wanna mention about the acts would be the lady who did her act on the two long pieces of cloth hanging the height of the tent and the girl who acted like a rubber doll. Worth the applause. The only laughable moment was actually the elephant act giving the city of drunkards the reason why not to drinnk.

So much for the jokers.

What really was missed; The effort to try and change the traditional circus to match what todays world would like to see. Hats off to them for having such a diversified group and giving at least 250 people (if not more) a livelyhood.

What could be better, the absence of the vendors trying to sell stuff and stand right in front of you. A ventilation system for all the smoke the bikes in the globe generated.

My verdict:
Tickets to the best plastic seats in circus: Rs 120 each
Cold drink vendor moving out of your view: Rs 20 to a bottle
Suffering in the smoke of the bikes : A wet handkerchif
Watching the support staff wind the trapeeze without the safety net: Priceless

Cheers!
